  1. NEW GEOCLOCK DATA FILES
  2. FOR DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME CHANGES

  7.    This set of files (1) provides a new GECONFIG.DAT with daylight saving time 
  8. for spring and summer 1990, and (2) updates certain GEO*.DAT files to match 
  9. changed DST designations in GECONFIG.DAT.  
  10.  
  11.    You should replace your GEO*.DAT files with those in this set if you are 
  12. using the data files distributed with the registered version of the Geoclock 
  13. program.  Otherwise, you might look at them and the new GECONFIG.DAT file, to 
  14. determine whether any changes are necessary.  
  15.  
  16.    The GECONFIG.DAT file has daylight saving time for 1989-90 (southern 
  17. hemisphere) and 1990 (northern hemisphere), covering cities in the GEO*.DAT 
  18. files distributed with the registered version of Geoclock.  It also has a time 
  19. zone for New Zealand, in response to popular demand, plus time zones for 
  20. eastern Canada and the western Aleutian Islands of Alaska.

  22.    There are two changes in the data files.  South Korea does not observe 
  23. daylight saving time.  It was previously shown with a DST zone, but apparently 
  24. this was a one-time occurrence for the Olympics in 1988.  Australia has two 
  25. sets of DST zones.  New South Wales and Queensland go off summer time on March 
  26. 4.  Victoria, South Australia, and the capital territory keep summer time for 
  27. two more weeks.  Western Australia and Northern Territory do not observe summer 
  28. time.

  30.    This set of files includes cities for Map 31 (USSR) and Map 54 (Canada), in 
  31. case you do not have them.  As a bonus, I have added North Cape (Norway), the 
  32. northernmost point in western Europe, and Wellington (New Zealand) to the 
  33. GEOCLOCK.DAT file.

  35.    By the way, neither the GECONFIG.DAT nor the GEOCLOCK.DAT has all of the 
  36. good information in "REM" form.  Also, GECONFIG.DAT does not have VGA or SVGA 
  37. codes.  These files are keyed to the Eastern Time Zone.  So compare your 
  38. current files with the new ones before replacing them.
